Overview
Product Display Rules allow you to configure a product to show or hide for specific registrants based on their characteristics or selections. This concept applies to both Membership Forms and Event Forms, and can be extremely useful for ensuring that the right registrants are presented with the right fees, without relying on them to choose the correct option upon registration.
The display of any given product on any given form can be conditionalised based on the registrant's:
- Member or Event Type
- Date of Birth/Age
- Gender
- Any combination of the above
Note: The below examples demonstrate the display rule options within the context of a Membership Form, however the same process can be applied to any event
Display Filters by Member Type
In GameDay, administrators can set up their own custom Member Types to apply to the first page of their registration form. Registrants can then select the option that best suits them. Using product display rules, we can ensure that the correct product is displayed to the registrant based on the Member Type selected, nullifying the need to create different forms for different types of members.
Scenario: Displaying products to Players, Coaches and Volunteers
What you'll need
Three different Member Types
- Player
- Coach
- Volunteer
Three different Products
- Player Fee
- Coach Fee
- Volunteer Fee
One Membership Form
Step 1: Edit your Membership Form
In the left-hand menu, select MEMBERSHIP FORMS
Find the form you want to edit, click the Actions menu, then click EDIT
Step 2: Attach your Member Types to the Form
On the Settings tab, find the Member Types section, then click ADD MEMBER TYPES to apply the relevant options to the front page of the form.
Choose the Player, Coach and Volunteer member types, then click ADD
When you save or activate the form, you'll then have three Member Types on the front page of the form for members to select:
Step 3: Attach your Products to the Form
Next, head to the Products tab of the form builder, then click ADD EXISTING MEMBERSHIP PRODUCTS TO FORM button
Add your corresponding Player, Coach and Volunteer fees
Step 4: Set the Product Display Rules
Finally, we want to make sure that the products are only displayed to members if they select the corresponding Member Type.
On the Products tab of the form builder, edit the Player product by clicking the Actions menu on the right hand side, then clicking EDIT.
Go to the Display Rules tab, then in the Only show to member type(s) field, apply the PLAYER member type
Repeat this process for the other two products. You should then see that the corresponding Member Types appear next to the product in the Available To column when editing the form.
When going through the form, products will now display to members as per their member type selection.
Display Filters by Date of Birth/Age
You might also want to show specific fees to specific age groups. For example, you might charge a higher fee to Senior players (e.g. anyone over 18 years old) than Junior players (e.g. anyone under 18 years old). Using product display rules, we can ensure that the correct product is displayed to the registrant based on the date of birth they enter at the start of the form.
Scenario: Displaying products to Senior and Junior Players
Step 1: Edit your Membership Form
In the left-hand menu, select MEMBERSHIP FORMS
Find the form you want to edit, click the Actions menu, then click EDIT
Step 2: Attach your Products to the Form
Next, head to the Products tab of the form builder, then click ADD EXISTING MEMBERSHIP PRODUCTS TO FORM button
Add your Junior Player Fee and Senior Player Fee
Step 3: Set the age or date of birth filter on each product's Display Rules
Now, we need to configure our display rules so that the Senior Membership only shows to members over 18, and the Junior Membership only shows to members under 18.
On the Products tab of the form builder, edit the Senior Membership product by clicking the Actions menu on the right hand side, then clicking EDIT.
Go to the Display Rules tab, then in the Show this product to all ages field, select No, and set the Minimum Age to 18
Use the drop-down menu below to set a date on which the system will calculate their age, including:
- Season Start Date: Select a season from your database. This option will take the season's start date and only show the product to members who are 18 or older on that date
- Season End Date: Select a season from your database. This option will take the season's end date and only show the product to members who are 18 or older on that date
- Specific Date: Choose a specific date on which the member needs to be at least 18 to see the product
- Registration Date: Choosing this option means, simply, that if the member is 18 or older on the date of their registration, the product will appear
Once you're happy with your display rule, click SAVE

Repeat this process for the Junior Membership product, using the Maximum Age field in your display rule.

When going through the form, products will now display to members as per their date of birth input.
Display Filters by Gender
Another common delineation between products is to separate them based on the member's gender. Using product display rules, we can ensure that the correct fee is displayed to the registrant based on the Gender at Birth selected at the start of the form.
Scenario: Displaying products to Male or Female players
Step 1: Edit your Membership Form
In the left-hand menu, select MEMBERSHIP FORMS
Find the form you want to edit, click the Actions menu, then click EDIT
Step 2: Attach your Products to the Form
Head to the Products tab of the form builder, then click ADD EXISTING MEMBERSHIP PRODUCTS TO FORM button
Select the Male Player Fee and Female Player Fee and click ADD
Step 3: Set the applicable Gender on each product's Display Rules
Now, we need to configure our display rules so that the Male Player Fee only shows to members who choose 'Male' as their Gender at Birth on the form, and the equivalent for the Female Player Fee.
On the Products tab of the form builder, edit the Male Player Fee product by clicking the Actions menu on the right hand side, then clicking EDIT.
Go to the Display Rules tab, then in the Only show to gender field, select Male
Repeat this step for the Female Player Fee, setting the gender display rule to Female
When members go through the form, they will then only see one of these products, depending on which selection they make in the Gender at Birth field at the beginning of the form.
